Musings on a Cruise

2019 is a great year for ESCO as we celebrate our 30 years of excellence. Over the past 30 years, ESCO has grown tremendously with many humbled achievements, all thanks to our hardworking and committed team. To commemorate the effort and hard work of our teams and alongside the celebration our anniversary, ESCO Singapore embarked on a company retreat aboard the Genting Dream Cruise. The 3D2N company retreat on the cruise left our team a memorable experience that they will never forget.

With all the planning by our cruise committee over the past few months, the company retreat was a great success. From early morning exercises conducted by Mr Jason Lim, VP of Project Management, to the Photo Hunt Challenge, it was a fulfilled experience for all the ESCO team as we bonded with one another.

Mr. Sujith Sivaram, Managing Director of ESCO said ”I was overwhelmed to be amidst the wonderful team and witness their random acts of kindness, camaraderie and comedies too. It was an experience worth a thousand memories, an age defying one and one that will stay in our hearts for a long time to come.”

‘I am filled with joy and humbled by the camaraderie of my colleagues. The mutual respect amongst each other during the trip is the highlight for me.”

– Jafry Bin Rubaii, Engineer, Hostile Mitigation.

Mr. Sujith also added ”The early morning workout in front of the giant LED screen displaying ESCO’s 30th Anniversary led by Jason; our in-house spartan, challenged our limits and fostered a sense of bonding amongst us.”

The high team spirits were also obvious in the various team activities that followed and ESCO completely converted the upper decks into our playground, running around and enjoying ourselves like a bunch of school children during PE (Physical Education).”

”We also learned to place our mission first, to press on and never to leave a fallen comrade behind, even if we are left with 10 minutes to complete the last bonus round.”

– Jason Lim, VP of Project Management

To further recognise the efforts of our team for making ESCO as it is today, an award ceremony was held in the Palm Court. The theme was ‘En Blanc’ and everyone came decked in all white. It was a heartwarming event as the Chairman of ESCO, Mr. Eric Lim, made personal addresses to the award recipients for their contributions to the company.

”I would also like to thank the management for recognising our efforts at the awards ceremony, it was very touching for Sir Eric to give a special message for each person. ”

– Suh Sia Lee, AVP of Operations

”I left the ship with mixed feelings knowing that I would miss this trip but also knowing that the team had bonded better and is ready to move forward to a brighter and better future for many 30 years to come.”

– Jason Lim, VP of Project Management

The company retreat created stronger bonds, fortified collaboration between teams and strengthened our teamwork. It was an event that brought many memories that would not be forgotten.
